My favorite show for  Friday night relaxation is SAY YES TO THE DRESS on TLC.  Kleinfeld Bridal Shop in Manhattan/Chelsea is the focus of the show finding the perfect wedding dress for the bride. Randy, the manager is hilarious, and his staff is superb, professional and diplomatic, practicing finesse with family members to please.  Will the style be mermaid, ball gown, backless or strapless?  So many choices.

On our trip to SE Asia recently, I learned that it is LUCKY  to be married during Chinese New Year Celebrations.  A photo album BEFORE  the wedding with up to 8 rented gowns is customary. The wedding day is traditional attire.  Seeing that we were there during that time I was thrilled to experience all the beautiful couples being photographed.  It is also the tradition to be photographed in a lovely red gown even if you were not getting married.  Photo booths were set up on the street.  The women were gorgeous, thin, and young…including the children. Everyone was having a good time.

Even the shopkeepers were ready in their red dresses and perfectly put together

The shopkeepers are ready to serve their customers in perfect red attire.

The international tourists had style too.  Only the Americans had sneakers and yoga pants and shorts.  It was tricky to take pictures and not be rude.

STYLE IN THE AIR– Traveling by Air China and Emirates was a treat.  I have to admit I am a traditionalist and like to be served by women who are beautiful, young, fit, thin, and well put together.  At these two airlines women carry themselves as a respect professionals.  Hair in French twists, Cleopatra eyes, lipstick and smiling even though the flights are 14 plus hours.  Speaking multiple languages, catering to the older set, children and families on these long flights…in economy which is what we fly!

Careers at Emirates Airlines are well described.  I will live vicariously through these women who travel the world and proud of what they do. (Reminds me of the Pan Am days.) I know that might be controversial…women’s opportunity is there today as women are pilots too. I think it is so interesting!  Do you agree with me or am I digressing…
