French Women Don’t Get Fat

By |June 5th, 2014|Business, Family, Food, Health and Wellness, Inspiration, Leadership, Travel, Women's Issues|

How women burn calories in France. Spinning… This video is will be worth your time. Will only take  a minute. It’s hilarious!

I am off to a cooking school in Provence with Patricia Wells.  I purchased her cookbook Patricia Wells At Home In Provence in 1996 when it first was released and have since then wanted to go to her cooking school.   I met her last year on a [...]

Attitude & Entrepreneurial Confidence

By |May 6th, 2014|Ambition, Business, Education, Inspiration, Leadership, Selling, Women's Issues|

Whether you are working ‘for the man’ or working for yourself, isn’t it best to approach your responsibilities as an entrepreneur?  That is how I always approached my day to day…as if I it was mine and I controlled my destiny!

My friend and colleague Triccia Ramos sent a weekly communique on selling to her team that captured the essence.  Allow me to share:

So what exactly is an entrepreneur?

“One definition [...]

Let Them Eat Kale/Carrots…or Cake?

By |April 28th, 2014|Business, Fashion, Food, Health and Wellness, Leadership, New Businesses, Politics, Sports, Travel|

I’m so confused on what to eat.  Too many rules, and too many things to remember.

We have the DETOX foods…I could use those, as you know I love my wine…

They are artichokes, citrus, sunflower seeds, lentils, garlic, red pepper, walnuts, turmeric, cucumber, broccoli.

Then there are the CLEANSE rules…some say juice for 3 days and that washes out the toxins.

Some say no meat for 7 days…(me, the carnivore, craved a piece [...]

Not Done, Only Just Begun

By |April 8th, 2014|Business, Education, Inspiration, Leadership, Women's Issues|

I am surrounded  by amazing women who I have worked with in the past, and now do good work in their next chapter of a (giving back) career, and contribute to the lives of others and their own fulfillment in so many ways.  It’s spring in Napa,  California, and I had the pleasure of being there this weekend to see friends and celebrate Judi, my dear retail colleague, in [...]

What’s With Bossy?

By |March 18th, 2014|Business, Family, Leadership, Women's Issues|

“You’re not the boss of me” -( yes I am because I am your mother and this is my job)

“You’re  treating me like your employee and telling me what to do”- (yes because there are things that need to be done)

Last week there was a lot of dialogue in the news about banning the word ‘bossy’.  Sheryl Sandberg’s foundation, LeanIn.org, has teamed up with the Girl Scouts for a [...]

Lessons From My Father

By |March 4th, 2014|Family, Inspiration, Leadership, Politics, Women's Issues|

What are the words embedded in our brains that were can recite at a minutes notice and shock ourselves that we can remember?
The Lord’s Prayer, The Kiddush, The Golden Rule, The Girl Scout Promise, Psalm 316, Mourner’s Kaddish
… you might have more…

I was reminded this week from a post on Linked-in by Angela Ahrendts whom I follow. She said she spent hours in her father’s office rereading [...]

By |February 18th, 2014|Business, Fashion, Leadership, Sports, Women's Issues|

Loyalty Both Ways

By |January 28th, 2014|Business, Leadership, Loyalty|

You know what bugs me? Eliminating full time positions for part time positions in the retail sector.

Let me explain:When I shop I’ve been experimenting with this question,”are you full time or part time?”

Conclusion: PTmers are nice enough, but don’t know the answer or have the expertise, not for lack of desire, they simply are not at work long enough to learn. Recent experiences at REI, Best Buys, and Staples, [...]

Leading with Gratitude

By |January 14th, 2014|Business, Leadership, Loyalty|

How many times has your boss said “thank you” and it was heard as blah blah blah?

How many times has your boss said, “Thank you Susie for your hard work and for staying late and for making a difference every day with our projects so they are on time and a success”?

Here is  ONE EXAMPLE of a message from a boss that made a BIG impression.  My friend’s daughter [...]
