How To Make A Snowman

By |January 24th, 2015|Art, Entertainment, New Businesses, Opportunity, Outdoor Activity, Selling|

The first real snow is always so beautiful.  The dirty lawns are covered with perfect whiteness.  Today we were at the dog park and a group of 20 somethings from California were jazzed about the snow and had to check their phones to find out  How to Make a Snowman…yes there are instructions…

Find a suitable place to put the snowman. You’ll need a flat area for the snowman. And you’ll [...]

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL

Love Tiffany’s facade on 58th and 5th in NYC.  Yellow Diamonds…their brand identity. The day began with my early morning walking route, from 65th down Madison, cross 5th to the Rockefeller tree and NBC…Bergdorf and Saks windows, Bloomingdales first floor, and Barney’s.  I needed to get my ‘fix’ of holiday inspiration.

Adrenaline is high walking on 47th St diamond district through Times Square to Penn Station. I [...]

‘Bagging a deer’  do you know what it means?

Deer Hunting Season officially started Saturday in Vermont.  Every state has different rules for dates, so check before getting the license. .

For instance, in Vermont November 15-30 is Rifle,  Dec 6-14 is Bow and Arrow and there are dates for Muzzle Loader.  We saw many men, young and old, hunting this weekend, walking the woods with their guns loaded.  Permits are [...]

Shop Today-Gone Tomorrow

By |November 2nd, 2014|Business, Celebrations, Entertainment, Family, Holidays, Home Decor, New Businesses, Retail Stores, Selling|

Decorating your house for Halloween could not have been more fun this year.  Walking the dogs, I had my camera at hand all week taking pictures in my neighborhood. You can tell that families were having fun making their house haunted and scary.

Friday night, Halloween, I called Halloween City, Halloween Spirit, and Halloween Express.  I wanted to know if markdowns would occur and if there might be a DAY [...]

The Art of Raising $-it’s Marketing!

By |October 26th, 2014|Celebrations, Education, Entertainment, Family, Food, Friendship, Health and Wellness, Inspiration, Marketing, Passion, Philanthropy|

I’ve been in the philanthropy circuit the last few months,  involved with wonderful organizations and people that do great work in the non-profit world.  Employees and volunteer teams work hard to support families, men, women, and girls. I have had the task of raising money, learning what it takes to get a commitment, and what motivates people to GIVE.

THE RED CROSS-  I had  the privilege of being invited to [...]

Remember when Richard Branson started Virgin Airlines before he was crowned SIR?  I thought he was fabulous…I wanted to work for him.  Why?  He said that one of the key differences that made his company a special place to work was the fun and freedom of expression that rested from the absence of employee handbooks that read like some kind of a corporate penal code.  Recently I heard an [...]

50 Year Celebrations

By |October 5th, 2014|Celebrations, Entertainment, Family, Friendship, Health and Wellness, Retirement|

I’ve always been a Car Gal.  My favorite car the FORD MUSTANG. Fifty years ago the first Mustang was introduced- 1964. At this time, growing up in the midwest, my father had Buicks, my grandfather had Chryslers, my boyfriend had a Chevy, and my mother had a Nash Rambler.  I knew the names and models to every car on the street.

My friends in college drove Mustang convertibles.  We were [...]

Do You Remember Camp?

By |August 21st, 2014|Art, Education, Entertainment, Family, Food, Health and Wellness, Leadership, Passion, Sports, Travel, Women's Issues|

Did you go to Girl Scout Camp?  I remember feeling excitement and fear, loneliness being away from home, and liked the new friends I made adjusting to the experience. I loved my counselors and can still remember their names. I remember the smell of the tents and the mosquitoes. It was the north woods of Wisconsin, the land of the vicious bugs! Jumping into the cold lake water with [...]

Jewels in the Rough-7 Days A Week

By |August 12th, 2014|Art, Business, Entertainment, Food, Inspiration, New Businesses, Passion, Retail Stores, Selling, Travel|

Main Street in Vinalhaven, Maine, is the center of town and the hub for all activity. It’s also known as Down Street.  It is 3 blocks long separated by alleys and water. There is a post office where everyone meets, one supermarket where everyone shops, and a few very creative merchants that are now my friends.

Many people on the island wear Alison Thibault’s hand made jewelry from her Five Elements [...]

A Tribute to a Mentor and Friend

Barbara Turf, former CEO, past President, and Head Merchant for Crate and Barrel passed away after a short battle with cancer last week.  I felt it was important to write a tribute to her, as she was a Mentor, Leader, and Friend to me my entire Crate and Barrel career.  At the funeral last week, people she touched came from around the world to celebrate her amazing life of [...]
