The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest, most successful girl-led business in the world and its power to teach girls business and financial skills that will serve them throughout their lives is unrivaled.  Every year nearly 1.5 million Girl Scouts sell about 200 million boxes of cookies- close to $800 million worth and every year, the girls who are cookie entrepreneurs reinvest that money into troop activities and projects that make their communities and our world a better place.  There is no other program that allows girls to gain such valuable experience and understanding of how they can transform their world, all while having fun and engaging in the excitement of the cookie season.

One hundred percent of the net revenue raised through cooke sales stays with local councils, and girls decide how their troop cookie money is spent.

We are about six weeks from the conclusion of Girl Scout Cookie season. From February 27 – March 1, join Girl Scouts around the country to celebrate National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend. This recognizes girls who use their cookie revenue to fund projects that impact their communities in amazing ways.  It will also celebrate the essential “5 Skills” each #cookieboss learns through the cookie program: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.

What are your favorites?  Thin Mints, shortbread, peanut butter, coconut, pecan…new gluten free varieties?  How do you get them if you don’t know a Girl Scout?  Try the COOKIE FINDER, enter your zip code, a mileage radius, and see where they are being sold.  There is also an app you can download.  This is the first year that girls can create their own personalized website, connect personally with their customers through a link and make it easy to buy.  This is just the beginning, obviously the girl websites are secure, and  as time goes on more girls will tap into this new method.

I ordered 20 boxes…so you might get a gift from me, as each thin mint is 40 calories x 5 = 200 calories a night…Guess I have to go out and shovel my driveway again or spend an hour on the elliptical. Or only eat 2!

LIKE A GIRL — The hit ad from Procter & Gamble Co.’s Always, the feminine products maker, that showed people acting out a common insult to girls’ ability to run and throw a ball. Then it showed several young girls — who hadn’t been taught they can’t — demonstrating how they run. Running like a girl, one said, means “run as fast you can.”
