One Store Opens/Another Closes

By |August 12th, 2015|Building a Store, Business, Celebrations, Friendship, Leadership, Personal Development, Selling|

We opened our store Olive Connection one week ago and it has been fantastic! Our friends rallied to support us, as did the neighborhood. It is sleepy August in Brookline, many people are away, so those that came in were local and curious. Most people bought something! Web site launched. www.oliveconnection  Check it out.  There is a lot of bedtime reading here.  Hope you find it interesting.

Say Cheese

By |July 27th, 2015|Food, Marketing, Products, Travel|

The VERMONT CHEESE FESTIVAL at Shelburne Farms on the shores of Lake Champlain is the highlight of the summer. Cheese purveyors from throughout Vermont meet along with other Artisan producers of maple syrup, mustards, spirits, honey and all things Vermontish…natural and pure.

This year was particularly important as we decided what cheeses to sell in our store and meet the cheese makers.  Cholesterol aside, it was a day of taste [...]

But I don’t like that sink…whah

I need it smaller! Can you find me one?

It has to be changed out…Now!

Because I can!

Really, I need a 3 sink?  After this I should open a restaurant…do I really need to add an expensive grease trap? Making nice with the Health Inspector. Oh the things I am learning…

We are on the home stretch, and it is an intense orbit.  General contractor meetings, pushing [...]

Yesterday was Flag Day June 14th…and it is marked in my neighborhood with flags on every lamp post, a parade, and color guard celebration on the high school lawn.

The day commemorates the American flag, Old Glory, standing tall and flying free over American soil for 228 years is the symbol of: Freedom, Democracy, National Pride, and History. Many have lost their lives defending it.

Flag Day also marks for me [...]

Progress Takes Time

I’ve been busy, thus the lag time in writing my blog.  Everyone said our timing to open beginning June was too aggressive…and now I know why.  Takes more time than we envisioned.  We are a month delayed.  The good news is we have time to to show the space to our friends, whose opinions we trust, to give their ideas and suggestions and brainstorm.  Here is Alan and Pam, [...]

ROUND TOP is 80 miles from Austin and 80 miles from Houston.  Population 90, that bursts with thousands experiencing Southern [...]

Say ‘YES’ To The Dress

By |March 10th, 2015|Career Development, Celebrations, Family, Fashion, Global, Holidays, Retail Stores, Travel, Women's Issues|

My favorite show for  Friday night relaxation is SAY YES TO THE DRESS on TLC.  Kleinfeld Bridal Shop in Manhattan/Chelsea is the focus of the show finding the perfect wedding dress for the bride. Randy, the manager is hilarious, and his staff is superb, professional and diplomatic, practicing finesse with family members to please.  Will the style be mermaid, ball gown, backless or strapless?  So many choices.

On our trip [...]
